Free Mulch for Your Yard: Save Water and Beautify Your Landscape
Get free, water-saving mulch at the Mulch Mayhem event on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. (or while supplies last). The event will be held at Sierra College, Overflow Parking Lot, at the corner of Rocklin Rd. and El Don Dr. in Rocklin (opposite the campus).
Hosted by Placer County Water Agency and San Juan Water District, this free event helps customers save water, improve soil, and protect plants with mulch for home landscape use.
Event Details:

- Location: Sierra College, Overflow Parking Lot, corner of Rocklin Rd. and El Don Dr. (opposite the campus) in Rocklin

- Mulch Type: Shredded cedar
- Bring: A shovel, container or tarp, and a means to haul away
- Limit: Free mulch is limited to one yard per household for personal use
Free mulch is limited to one yard per household, enough to fill up a pickup truck, for personal use. Customers must bring their own shovels, containers, tarps or other items to cover the mulch and must provide their own way to haul it away.
Why Mulch?
- Saves Water: Applying mulch helps retain moisture, up to 30 gallons saved for every 1,000 sq. ft. mulched.
- Improves Soil: Mulch adds nutrients and suppresses weeds.
- Protects Plants: Moderates soil temperature and enhances curb appeal.
