Fulweiler to Garfield Pipeline Replacement Project

Infrastructure Upgrades by PCWA

PCWA is performing vital water system upgrades in Auburn to improve long-term reliability and capacity. The project includes replacing aging water pipelines, upsizing new water mains, and restoring the roadway surfaces along portions of Fulweiler Avenue and Garfield Street, including the Highway 49 crossing.

Project Overview

This project will modernize critical water infrastructure including a pipeline crossing through an intersection on Highway 49.

Key Improvements Include:

Replacement of 1,163 feet of 8-inch water mains and 12 water service connections
Upsizing 269 feet of main to 12-inch pipe
Installing 126 feet of 24-inch casing pipe
Replacement of one fire hydrant
Restoration of up to 32,375 square feet of roadway.

What to Expect During Construction

Daytime Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Nighttime Work: Required for work within Caltrans right-of-way, including the Highway 49/Fulweiler Avenue intersection and the private alley between Elm Avenue and Garfield Street, parallel to Highway 49.

Traffic Impacts: Closures and delays along Fulweiler Avenue and Garfield Street can be expected. Expect lane closures and delays along Highway 49 during nighttime work.

Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible.

Outage Notifications: Door hangers and/or direct notices will be provided in advance of any planned water or sewer service interruptions.
