Notice of Public Hearing

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Board of Directors of the Placer County Water Agency will hold a public hearing at the above place and time, to introduce and receive public comments on a proposed ordinance prohibiting water theft, unauthorized use, and tampering of Agency water facilities and setting corresponding fines, penalties, and enforcement measures. The proposed ordinance authorizes enforcement actions and sets graduated penalties for initial and recurring violations of water theft pursuant to California Government Code sections 53069.45 and 53069.46. The fines and penalties range from $130 to $10,000 depending on type of theft, number of recurrences by an offender, and timeframe. The highest penalty of $10,000 is associated with more than two (2) unauthorized connections to Agency fire hydrants performed by the same offender. The ordinance includes an enforcement and appeals process.

The purpose of the hearing is to give the public the opportunity to make their comments known on the proposed ordinance.

All interested persons are invited to attend the hearing and be heard on any item of the proposed ordinance, or for inclusion of additional items.
