PCWA District 1 includes most of the City of Roseville, plus portions of unincorporated west Placer County.

Position Details and Appointment Process
The Agency
The Placer County Water Agency was created under the Placer County Water Agency Act in 1957 by the California State Legislature. PCWA carries out water resource planning and management, retail and wholesale water service, hydroelectric generation, and watershed stewardship.
The Board of Directors
The five-member Board of Directors is the governing body of PCWA. Each Director represents the public in their district as well as the general public within the Agency's jurisdiction, which includes all 1,500 square miles of Placer County.
Directors are elected to four-year terms by registered voters in five geographic districts that coincide with the Placer County supervisorial districts. Directors must live within the district they represent.
Board Meetings
The Board meets in regular session on the first and third Thursday of each month at 2:00 p.m. at the PCWA Business Center, 144 Ferguson Road, Auburn, California. Special meetings are scheduled as needed.
Appointment Process
Under Section 81-7.1 of the Placer County Water Agency Act, the remaining Board members must fill the vacancy by appointment within 30 days after the vacancy occurs.
The selected individual will fill the unexpired term for the District 1 seat through December 4, 2026.

Duties & Compensation
What the Role Includes
Compensation and Benefits
A PCWA Director receives $1,250 fixed compensation per month and reimbursement for authorized Agency-related expenses. Dental and vision coverage are provided for a Director and dependents, and the Agency also provides a modest life insurance policy.
Director Duties
- Attend Board meetings and actively participate.
- Review agendas, supporting materials, and budget items.
- Help determine policy and provide direction on Agency services and programs.
- Hire and evaluate the General Manager, legal counsel, and auditor.
- Represent the Agency on committees, public functions, and other events.
- File a California Fair Political Practices Commission Statement of Economic Interests form.
Appointment Meeting Details
The PCWA Board of Directors will meet in open session on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at the PCWA Business Center, 144 Ferguson Road, Auburn, California, to consider filling the District 1 seat. The Board's appointment decision is final.
Candidates are required to attend the May 11 Board meeting.
